The Greatest is the Servant
“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” Matthew 23:11 KJV
Status and a title are crucial identities in society. There is a value assigned to people with important titles. Of course this is not applied to everyone but it sure is how it works in general for the people in the world. Let’s be honest, we all want to be great and accomplish something amazing in our lives. There is a way to do this that will last for eternity and not temporarily.
Fortunately, Jesus gives us the one and true answer on how to be great. When you have a heart to prefer others before you is the key. To selflessly want the best for them and go out of your way to encourage them is the greatest role to play. The greatest is not the one with the best suit or the one who speaks eloquently, it is the humble servant heart to genuinely put others needs before your own that takes the title of The Greatest. So, if there is anything in your life that appears to be giving you a hard time, whether that be a co-worker, boss, family members, or even debt collectors turn the situation around by putting your own feelings aside and think about how you can serve and love that person in the moment. This is exactly what Jesus did for us! Remember the greatest in the Kingdom is the servant.
~ Heavenly Father, thank You. Everything was created by You and it belongs to you. Yet, You humble Yourself to serve my needs daily. Help me to be just like You, that I may be a great and faithful servant for You. It is only Your love that can transform every situation. In Jesus name amen
